School’s out and it’s finally summer camp season. Although your kids might be relaxing at home, DocNetwork sure isn’t. As an online electronic health records system for schools and camps we’ve been keeping busy, helping making last minute changes for camps, assisting parents with registrations, and stepping out into our community. Last week DocNetwork headed to Intermitten to explore the values that art and technology can add to our everyday lives and community. In addition to networking, our very own director, Dr. Michael Ambrose, got a chance to speak. As a physician and summer camp alumni, Dr. Michael saw, first hand, the disastrous disorganization of critical health information at camps. In his speech, “Finding Opportunities in the Simple things,” he discussed using technology to improve the health and safety of children at schools and camps. His remarkable, yet realistic idea transformed into our current websites: CampDoc.com and SchoolDoc.com.
More recently, Ann Arbor’s Tech Trek just wrapped up this past Friday. With more than 2,000 attendees we saw a lot of new faces. Hosted in the Ann Arbor SPARK office we offered a coloring competition and photo booth stand for our trekkers. Kids enjoyed the coloring and the chance to dress up as a doctor, props provided by none other than Dr. Michael. Along with the photo booth kids had a chance to win an Amazon Echo Dot if they tweeted their creative artwork and pictures with the tag #DocNetwork. A big congratulations to John Richardson and family for winning this competition! Despite this being our first year at Tech Trek we were ecstatic with the number of job seekers, friendly faces, and eager learners. It proved to be a great opportunity for showcasing our product and we hope to be returning in future years!
As June comes to an end and and you begin packing your kids bags for a summer of fun, you can finally sit back and relax.
